Co 2001-13 AND Co 2001-15 PROMISING VARIETIES FOR NORTHERN KARNATAKA

Field experiment was conducted at K.J. Somaiya Institute of Applied Agricultural Research Sameerwadi for evaluation of the promising varieties Co 2001-13 (Co7806 X poly cross) and Co 2001-15 (Co 85002 X Co775) midlate maturing varieties. These two new varieties hold promise with regard to sugar yield and cane yield in an average of two plants and one ratoon over the standard Co 86032. Co 2001-13 is a semi erect variety with a sparse flowering and Co 2001-15 an erect, non-lodging and non-arrowing variety most suited for mechanical harvesting.
