The 21ST Century Aviation System can substantially improve the piloting of cargo and carrier aircraft with an onboard pilot/s and a remote copilot residing in a secure ground-based aircraft simulator. This paper will highlight the benefits, which are: to increase: (1) aircraft payload and fuel economy; (2) homeland security; (3) airport efficiency and automation; (4) safety and security of the public and edifices; (5) ADS-B utility and economical justification; (6) the real-time digital-data required for safe and secure 4-dimensional ATC/M and free-flight, and to decrease: (1) piloting and maintenance personnel costs; (2) aircraft avionics costs; (3) aircraft weight; (4) aircraft acquisition cost; (5) hijacking; (6) insurance costs; (7) the need for expensive runway expansion programs; (8) flight delays; (9) aircraft crashes; (a) 9/11 type disasters; (b) decompression disasters; (c) ground incursions, etc.; (10) unauthorized flights into restricted airspace; and (11) the need to recover flight data recorders.
