A simplified energy projection algorithm for isometric volume rendering is proposed in this paper. Compared with other methods, the proposed algorithm can be largely table driven, which makes it faster and easier to implement. A method forgenerating an optimal transfer function, which could be used to specify some particular rendering parameters, is provided. Also an efficient method for building the energy footprint lookup table is provided, and three important parameters, projectionkernel, kernel width and footprint table size are examed.
