Traditional escalator used to be controlled by relay and contactor, the control system of which was relatively cheap, but had disadvantages of multiple contact, complicated wiring, more fault, poor reliability and son on. If it is controlled by PLC, the hardware cost is higher. In order to reduce costs, simplify programming, make maintenance convenient, the energy-saving control system on escalator, in which Siemens LOGO! Controller and frequency converter were adopted, was put forward. Then the control system on escalator used by LOGO! Controller was analyzed and designed before the software program was compiled. Besides the parameters on frequency converter were set. Furthermore hardware simulation platform was developed. Finally the simulation debugging on control system were implemented, which showed that various control function of escalator was realized with LOGO! Controller and frequency converter, and hardware cost was reduced, energy was saved, mechanical wear can be reduced, the service life of the escalator was prolonged.
