Measurement of Sea-Shocks Response of a Sailing Ship in Japan

One of authors had experience of strong seaquake on a bridge of a shipsailing off Sanriku Coast in the open sea in north-east of Japanunexpectedly. A ship had experience of sea-shocks in the middle ofsailing for research from Kobe to Sendai in Miyagi prefecture. Wecould measure ship motions caused by sea-shocks considering seabedoscillation such as ship rolling, pitching and yawing, acceleration of x,y and z directions, atmospheric and ocean waves. The purpose of thisstudy is to analyze “sea-shocks” phenomenon in ship motions measuredby a measurement devices installed to a sailing ship and to discussabout sea-shocks.The conclusions obtained by the present paper are that ship motions of6 free degrees caused by sea-shocks have high frequency oscillation.Especially, the acceleration of z direction is remarkable.
