In this study, we have reported the results of our conducted study regarding the creation of high-precision and compact data of road DB for the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) by utilizing 3D spatial information acquired through Mobile Mapping System -High-Precision GPS Mobile Measurement System (MMS). Since built-in vehicle sensors to capture the vehicle's environment are limited to a relatively short range, the available digital map data can be used as a virtual sensor to look more forward on the path of the vehicle. In recent years, MMS receives much attention as a system measuring spatial information of road surroundings. MMS enables to efficiently collect detailed 3D geometries from the roads on which the vehicle runs. The objective of this study is to develop a high-precision road DB, easily convertible to an in-vehicle data to assist the safe driving and eco-drive by extracting curvature/slope profile, lane level information and high-precision landmark information from the vast amount of MMS point cloud data. This DB contains Road Section ID which enables to build connections with various road maps and make easier to understand the partial updating and facilitate the monitoring and management activities.
