BayernInfo - traveller information services as a means for fostering new mobility concepts

The German State of Bavaria has been offering traveller and traffic information services since more than 15 years with different operating approaches. These services have been offered through the Bayernlnfo system, which is being operated by the Traffic Information Agency (VIB) in a public-private-partnership approach. In the recent years Bayernlnfo has been updated by offering new services, integrating additional data sources, introducing new distribution methods and updating the technical background. With new challenges arising from changes in the peoples' mobility behaviour also traffic information has to find new approaches and offer different services. The Bavarian Road Administration has an overall strategy and uses various approaches to face these challenges.
