The failure of nonstructural components such as piping, ceiling, mechanical and electrical equipments led to operational and functional problems in structural systems in the past severe earthquakes. Consequently, in the last few decades, a reduction of the damage to nonstructural components or an improvement of the performance of nonstructural components has emerged as a key area of research. The primary objectives of this paper focused on characterizing the seismic vulnerability of piping system from probabilistic failure methodology. In addition, the procedure for seismic fragility analysis of piping system was developed by incorporating with a nonlinear branch piping system.
