This short paper presents some ways to reduce the conservatism in the calculation of spectra induced by an aircraft crash. The use of generic aircraft crash methodology provides a decrease of 25 to 40% of the accelerations in the examples that have been presented. It has to be noted that the gain is not linear regarding the distance and the frequency domain. It is decreasing very fast in nearly 30m in the exposed examples after the decrease is quite linear but the impact is varying from a frequency to another. It is more homothetic in frequencies higher than 40 Hz. For situations where the behavior of equipment toward this very high level of acceleration is questioned, we have proposed a criterion based on input energy.
