For hypersonic regime, increase of aircraft speeds causes heat loads that are aerodynamic heat and heat generated by engine combustor. These heat loads would lead structural change of aircraft components and system failure. Endothermic fuels are general liquid hydrocarbon fuels which have cooling ability by undergoing endothermic reactions, such as thermal and catalytic decomposition. In this study, n-dodecane was selected as a model endothermic fuel. Some experiments on endothermic reaction of the model fuel were implemented. To improve heat of endothermic reaction, we applied zeolites and confirmed that HZSM-5 was the best catalyst for the endothermic performance. The object of this study is to investigate catalytic effects for endothermic heat improvement.
