With the advancement of remote sensing monitoringtechniques in the global space, Discrete Global Grid System(DGGS) provides new ideas for the constructing of new spatialdata models. Based on the frame of DGGS, in this paper, HQBS,an innovative encoding and a new high effective hierarchicalstructure for Spherical Discrete Hexagonal Grid, was discussed.HQBS can be used to spheres, demands no parity layers, usesquadtree to code, has the smaller size lookup table, and greatlyimproves the efficiency of gird index and analysis. The paper alsostudies a series of problems about the establishment of hexagonalhierarchical grid structure, encoding of HQBS units, O operationof HQBS, and hierarchical index of HQBS. In the end we proveexactness and efficiency of the algorithm through theexperiments.
