Linear cutting plans, also known as nesting plans, are often found in a variety of industries that use one-dimensional raw work pieces. Each part has a certain length, an identification code and can appear once or more than once in the work plane. Mass production can be achieved having similar small series or even unique products that are considered as one whole task and are manufactured up on an accurate cutting plan that the system can supply. In order to simulate the efficiency of the cutting process, one must combine the power cutting algorithms with a sound result representation, offering an analysis tool. An application that gathers all the similar parts from several similar products forms a stock that must be trimmed and manufactured together. This is a problem of linear mathematics that, if solved, could lead to a substantial decrease in material consumption (Kravitz 2012; Garey and Johnson 1979). The application is developed in AutoLISP under AutoCAD and offers the advantages of a solid programming tool, coupled with a precise drawing editor where the results of cutting plans are estimated (Alupei-Cojocariu 2004).
