This paper presents a thorough statistical characterization of a narrowband dual-polarized multiple-input-multiple-output land mobile satellite channel, based on a measurement campaign in an urban pedestrian environment. The results reveal that in line-of-sight conditions the signal can be characterized by the Corazza-Vatalaro model. On the other hand, in non-line-of-sight situations Suzuki distribution is more appropriate to describe the propagation mechanisms. From the second order statistical analysis it is observed that LL polarization experiences the greatest fading rates. These values occur for signal levels ±5 dB around the mean.
