Verification on stability and reproducibility of DSCQS method for assessing 4K Ultra-HD video quality

We conducted subjective quality assessment tests to investigate the possibility of using the DSCQS method as a metric for 4K video quality. With 4K video, the quality of the encoded videos may be close to that of the reference video depending on the encoding rate. Therefore, there is concern that non-experts will not be able to make a stable and reproducible assessment of the difference in quality between the reference and assessment videos. We conducted two subjective quality assessment tests using high-quality assessment videos that were close in quality to the 4K reference videos and using assessment videos that ranged in quality from low to high. The results showed that there was high correlation between these two tests and that the stability of assessment of 4K videos was almost the same as that of full HD videos. It is therefore possible to use the DSCQS method as a metric for assessing 4K video quality.
