This research is an experimental work to discuss the result of using crystal violet as a dye in making solar cells after special treatments. Crystal violet is a triarylmethane dye. It has been used as an antibacterial and was formerly important as a topical antiseptic. Our goal is to use crystal violet in the manufacture of solar cells as it iso an active dye. What's more, crystal violet is characterized by high durability and high melting point. Dye-sensitized solar cells attract attention as a low-cost and an extremely flexible type of advanced solar cells. However, for their commercial application, it is necessary to achieve higher photoelectric conversion efficiency (especially in terms of the photocurrent) beyond the present level. In the dye-sensitized solar cells, since dyes absorb light and separate charges, the photocurrent is thought to be dependent on the dye's absorption structure; therefore, elucidation and control of the absorption structure on real devices are indispensable for increasing the conversion efficiency [9]. Crystal Violet is also known as Gentian Violet, Basic Violet 3, Brilliant Violet 5B, Gentiaverm and Methylrosanline Chloride, according to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration [8].
