Potential of Curcumin as Antiproliferative Drug for Developing Drug Eluting Stent: A Brief Review

摘要

Curcumin is a medicinal substance that has been extensively used for long time in biomedical applications by various ways, having many important characteristics such as anticoagulation, anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferation. These traits make curcumin a great potential for use in the development of drug coated stents to prevent in-stent restenosis subsequently stent installed in the blood vessel. This paper reviews a number of studies that attempt to develop drug eluting stents by using curcumin or ginseng as an anti-proliferation agent.
