Field experiments were conducted at the research farm of Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Pune during suru season of 2010-11 and 2011-12 to assess the productivity of newly developed genotypes in sugarcane under two plant crops and a ratoon crop. The pooled data of two plants indicated that three genotypes viz., CoVSI 03102, CoVSI 0309 and CoM 08086 found to be significantly superior over the standards CoVSI 9805 and Co 86032. However, none of the genotypes were superior to CoM 0265 for the cane yield. For sugar yield /ha, above three genotypes were numerically higher ranges over CoVSI 9805 and Co 86032. Rest of the characters such as cane and sugar yield i.e. C.C.S. %, sucrose %, weight of single cane and number of millable canes were numerically higher than the standards in CoVSI 03102. It is interesting to note that amongst all the entries including standards, CoVSI 03102 possessed thicker canes and non-lodging along with non-flowering behavior. So, the genotypes like CoVSI 03102, CoVSI 0309 and CoM 08086 are to be tested on large scale to confirm the results obtained from economic point of view.
