How the Travel Mode Choice in the Rail Station Area affected by Different Factors in a Mega-city of Shanghai

This article presented a study that analyzed the travel mode choice characteristics in the railstation neighborhood by using field survey data in Shanghai city, and then applied the redundancyanalysis method to identify the main influence factors that affect mode choice and theircontribution to explain the variance of mode choice decisions, which was aim to provide ascientific guide for the further development plan of rail station neighborhood. The results showedthat rail, bus, e-bike, bike and walk are the main travel mode choices, and the mode share ofvarious travel modes in different rail station, different spatial and oriented area showed obviouslyspatial variation characteristics. The effects of land use-related and transport-related factors ontravel mode choice were quite different, the latter played a more important role than the former inaffecting travel mode choice, and the variance explained by land use-related and transport-relatedfactors separately varied considerably depending on the travel mode considered.
