Most of the mechanistic design methods used for flexible pavements do not take into account theenvironmental effects on the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) mechanical properties; so, the objective ofthis study is to consider these environmental effects on the main HMA mechanical properties,such as: the resilient modulus, vertical permanent deformation and fatigue strength. This paperpresents the evolution of these mechanical properties for a typical Colombian HMA due to 42months of environmental exposure in Bogota D.C. (Colombia). As a result, equations weredeveloped in order to show the changes on the HMA mechanical properties due to theenvironmental effects. The general tendency for the HMA in the first 29 months ofenvironmental exposure was the increase of the modulus due to aging of the asphalt binder. Also,the higher stiffness increases the resistance to permanent deformation, a phenomenon that couldlead to increase the fatigue life of the HMA. It was noticeable as well that after 30 months ofexposure, the resistance under repeated loading of HMA decreases.
