We proposed a new technique for manufacturing highly oriented ceramics. We actually obtained a large compact about 2.5 mm in thickness consisting of particles with a high orientation degree. In this method, the volume fraction of particles in the slurry had little effect. The intensity of shear rate in the thickness direction compared with that in the radius direction was considered to have a large effect on the orientation degree of a compact.We proposed a new technique for manufacturing highly oriented ceramics.
