The FPWJ strip process developed by ES3 under USAF SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) AF071-317 is a more environmentally-friendly, faster, and more efficient option to the wet chemical stripping processes currently used for removal of organic and inorganic coatings. The completed Phase Ⅱ SBIR developed and validated the FPWJ removal process for chrome plating, HVOF, plasma and combustion type thermal spray coatings without damaging the substrate of actual aircraft components. The ongoing Phase Ⅱ.5 SBIR CPP effort focuses on transitioning the technology from a laboratory environment to an operational production environment, which includes installing a pilot full scale FPWJ system and engineering support activities.
