In this paper, we analyze response characteristics of new LC materials by using an ECB mode to realize phase-modulated display devices. We demonstrate that 2π phase retardation can be induced from differently blended LC materials, each indicating the possibility of LC cell to operate at more than 60 Hz frame rates. From these results that we present current level of LC response speed, we suggest the way of blending nematic LC materials in further research.
