Out of Position load cases are investigated both in experiment and simulation. It was the overall goal of this work to extract information from dedicated experimental setups to fine tune physical models describing individual phenomena of a passenger airbag deployment in front of a child dummy. The success was proved based on sensible variations of relevant input parameter sets, thereby shifting the attraction to assess result probabilities rather than to judge the deviations of simulation results to a single test result. The consequences are an increase in numerical and experimental efforts but also an increase in a higher confidence level of simulation results.
