Forward Collision Warning System

摘要

The goal of a forward collision warning (FCW) function is to call the driver's attention to a potential hazard of a rear end collision. There are several reasons for a situation tending to be critical:1.Inattention 2.Distraction 3.Underestimation of the Situation If the driver is alerted early enough the system will help him or her to react in time for avoiding a collision. However, a warning should not be issued when the driver is actively controlling the situation. Otherwise,continuous false positives would lead the driver to switch offthe function what then obviously results in no safety improvement.A proper situation assessments essential for a well performing system. This is realized by observing the traffic with a forward looking sensorand monitoring the driver inputs to the vehicle.
