Introduction: to evaluate the treatment of some fractures by an injectable phosphocalcic cement and from there the possibility of less invasive surgery. Methods: We use since January 2007 a new injectable bone substitute in a series of trauma and orthopaedic indications. The substitute (Eurobone2®, FH, Heimsbrunn, France) is apatitic calcium phosphate cement. It is elaborated by mixing very easily a liquid with a powder in a automatic syringe. It becomes a paste and after waiting time of 2 minutes it can be inject before hardening in situ. Kinetics of setting is dependent on temperature. Its application by injection brings a close contact between the product and the surrounding osseous layer. The reaction is very quick. The cement is stable in its volume, without being eliminated by blood. It has a mechanical compression resistance about 15 to 20 MPa in a wet surrounding, as in vivo. We used this substitute for the following indications: calcaneus fractures, tibia plateau fractures, distal radius fractures and proximal humeral fractures.
