In a short, in this experiment we have synthesized successfully cerium oxide nanoparticles that have the property of protecting human normal cells as comparing to tumor cells and potential application loading anticancer drug DNR in the cancer therapy. The results demonstrate that cerium oxide nanoparticles have no or low cytotoxic. Furthermore, the cerium oxide could scavenge the ROS induced by UV-radiation in HaCaT cells comparing to the HepG2 cells because of their intracellular microenvironment to achieve the purpose protecting human normal cells in the cancer therapy. Additionally, in the anticancer therapy, the cerium oxide nanoparticles could carry more anticancer drug DNR molecules for internalization and increase the accumulation of in the HepG2 cells.
