The fabrication of a novel polymer-based electrospun metronidazole containing device to combat periodontal pathogens was reported. This electrospun device holds clinical promise based on its biocompatibility and antibacterial effects; it therefore opens an interesting route for the development of electrospun local drug delivery devices for the treatment of periodontitis.
