A novel kind of silica cross-linked magnetic micelles were fabricated via the self-assembly of amiphiphilic block copolymer PS-b-PAA and magnetite nanoparticles and a subsequent sol-gel process by empolying a common silane couple agent of 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS). The size of the micelles was easily tuned by changing the initial magnetite concentration in oil phase. The application of silica cross-linked magnetic micelles in liver imaging was demonstrated in vivo. And these kinds of nanoparticles could be used as excellent, safe MR contrast agent for the diagnosis of liver diseases or cancer.
