Software systems have been utilizing library components for many years. The use of libraries enables reuse of functionality, and reduces the effort of design verification. Libraries have been shown to increase the reliability and reduce the cost of software systems. As platforms based on FPGAs are developed, the use of libraries needs to be evaluated to determine if FPGA systems can achieve the same benefits that are seen in software based systems.
