The fully computerized instrumentation and control system for the Lungmen nuclear power plant (NPP) provides operators a friendly human-machine interface and a flexible and powerful operational tool, such as the automatic power regulating system (APR). The latest introduced multiple-core microprocessors and superior Windows operation system greatly enhance the numerical computation power and management control capability for the personal computers (PC). Engineering simulators hosted on high performance personal computers and network complex become a trend and the favorite choice. These engineering simulators reduce the cost and risk for training purpose and/or engineering design applications. This paper presents a tool and an analysis method to assess the design of the APR system for Lungmen NPP. The benefits of this study can access the adequacy of functions and capabilities of the Lungmen APR system. It also introduces a tool and methodology to develop a new operation trajectory and/or Power/Flow Map for the Lungmen NPP in the future.
