Detection of nonmetal pipeline by Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) was very difficult. The paper using different center frequency antennas researched the GPR image characteristics of buried pipelines on specific soil condition. The results showed: GPR can get the date of image characteristics and location information of different diameters pipes under soil depth of 0.5m. The 400MHz antenna have better reflected echo signal and clearer radar image of all PVC pipes of different diameters, the center frequency of 200MHz antenna have high accuracy detection on pvc pipe of 90mm diameter size, but the 700MHz antenna have worse reflected echo signal of Φ110 pipe. In the whole the detection error was less than 6%. The 200MHz antenna had best accuracy on Φ75mm PVC pipe, and the 750MHz antenna had best accuracy on Φ50mm PVC pipe, but the 400MHz antenna had less than 3% error on all PVC pipes. Overall the 400MHz antenna was more suitable for the detection applications of PVC pipeline under depth of 0.5m in the infield.
