摘要

Machining is a fundamental manufacturing process used for removing additional material from workpiece surfaces and achieving desired dimensional accuracy. Metal working fluids are also known as cutting oils, lubricants and coolants. They are used to reduce friction and wear between the workpiece and cutting tool, to remove heat from the cutting zone, and to remove chips. However, the application of solid lubricants in the form of Minimum-Quantity Solid Lubrication (MQSL) is a novel approach in machining. An attempt was made to analyze the effect of the MQSL approach during turning operations. Experiments were conducted based on the design of a model to predict surface roughness during the turning operation. The feed rate is the predominant process parameter among those considered, directly affecting the surface roughness.
