Traditional power flow algorithm is not suitable for distribution network integrating distributed generations (DGs). The topology of distribution network needs to be simplified to accelerate the speed of power flow calculation and analyze the relationship between the convergence and the compensation ratio of the branches with larger R/X ratio values. Two grid-connected modes of DGs are introduced in this paper, which are inverter interfaced mode and direct grid-connected mode. Various DG models for power flow calculation are introduced and an improved fast decoupled power flow algorithm is proposed to deal with different types of DGs and distribution system with loop topology. The feasibility of proposed method in this paper is proved by simulations of 33-bus, 69-bus and 145-bus power systems.
