@@Fire resistant intumescent coatings are widely used for the protection of steel structures in the construction of buildings, bridges, boats. Unfortunately, some drawbacks of intumesecnt flame retardant (IFR) system such as high moisture sensitivity, high initial increase rate of temperature and poor anti-thermo-oxidative property for charred residue etc inhibit their further development. A novel caged bicyclic phosphate (Trimer) is believed to be one of the promising intumescent flame retardant additives due to its ideal symmetrical structure, high phosphorus content (21%), hydrophobicity and excellent stability. In reported study, Trimer has revealed excellent flame retardant property in PP, EP, EVA and intumescent flame retardant coating.
