The world thinnest "direct-lit" LED lighting panel having a minimal number of LED light sources will be presented based on our newly developed "Square-Light" technology. This revolutionary approach reveals the possibility of converting a strong LED "dot" light into an uniform flat surface light under a 7mm thick of an optical structure where each LED light source is disposed at 50mm apart. Both 55" and 42" ultra-slim "direct-lit" LED TVs based on "Square-Light" technology will be demonstrated and their design concepts will be discussed and compared with optical simulation results.
