An optical measurement technique for the heat-flux onto 'Shaded' area in the hypersonic flows is proposed. The present method employs Temperature Sensitive Paint (TSP) and simple optics installed inside of a model. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of the present method, the heat flux on a wall in a deep cavity under a hypersonic flow is measured in Nagoya University Shock Tunnel. The results are compared with the thermocouple data, the existing theoretical results, and CFD results. The present results agreed qualitatively with the theoretical results. The precision of the present method is still open to question.
