Our coast has evolved and changed over the generations. Our management of the coast needs to both understand and reflect this and help our coastal landscapes and communities to evolve in response to future change. It is the beginning of a journey for which the new legislation will provide the foundation of sustainable management; the strategic shoreline management plans will provide the route map over the next 100 years and the associated policy guidance act as support along the way.
