Applying Standards to Three Dimensional Object Photography

The Metropolitan Museum of Art began using digital photography in 1995. Since then the studio has been committed to producing the highest quality lighting and capture possible. While a system of capture for 2-dimensional works of art has been developed and well documented, exacting standards for photography of 3-dimensional artwork have been harder to achieve. After extensive testing and refinement, the studio has produced a system of capture and set of standards for 3-D object photography that enables the photographers to achieve image consistency across the entire staff.
