SPORL is one of the important pretreatment methods for lignocellulose bioconversion into ethanol. Effects of additives on enzymatic hydrolysis of corn stalk pretreated with SPORL were investigated in this paper. Some kinds of surfactants including OP-10, AEO, Span80, Tween80, Tween60, SDS, and PEG with various molecular mass were chosen to evaluate their ability to improve enzymatic hydrolysis of substrate. The results indicated that surfactants except SDS and PEGs improved enzymatic hydrolysis of the substrate. All non-ionic additives used could enhance enzymatic hydrolysis while anionic surfactant played the opposite role. OP-10(alkyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether) was the best choice. Compared with the control, the enzymatic hydrolysis rate of substrate and glucose yield were increased by 36.25% and 19.52%, respectively, when 1.5% OP-10 was added. The reason may be due to that non-ionic additives can promote enzyme activity and the ineffective adsorption of cellulase on substrate was reduced.
