AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION OF EFFECTIVENESS OF SUSTAINABLE OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

With the growing concern for environment, health, and safety, businesses are under strong pressure to measure and report their impacts on environment, which forces them to adjust their operational and competitive strategies and engage in sustainability-oriented activities. Operations management (OM) plays a critical role in a company's sustainable development effort because OM is directly related to design, operation, and improvement of the systems that consume physical resources to create and deliver the company's products and services. This study identifies the effective OM-related practices to reduce waste releases and abate pollution. It further investigates whether the efficacy remains for long term.
