A REVIEW OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR

This paper provides a literature review of various Continuous Improvement (CI) strategies and methodologies and offers suggestions for implementation in the public sector. Private sector manufacturing and service organizations have been implementing quality and CI strategies for many years. Now the public sector is beginning to turn toward CI. This paper compares and contrasts the public and private sector to isolate the necessary components for building a culture of CI in government.
