MANUFACTURING OUTSOURCING: THE DARK SIDE

For the past few decades, concerns have been raised about whether outsourcing of manufacturing by firms has generated real economic gains and or improvements in firm performance. In a bid to assess the negative effects of outsourcing manufacturing, this article questions the hypothesis that adopting outsourcing of manufacturing and associated services improves firm performance, and opens up new doors of research on the effect of outsourcing on manufacturing in different industries.
