IT- AND RELATIONSHIP- ENABLED SUPPLY CHAIN COORDINATION: A SYNERGY PERSPECTIVE WITH CONTINGENCY AND CONFIGURATION APPROACHES

From a resource synergy perspective, this study investigates two resources, including information technology (IT) and relationship commitment (RC), process coordination capability, and their impacts on supply chain performance in a supplier-manufacturer-customer chain. Using both the contingency and the configuration approaches, we test the hypotheses based on data collected form 617 manufacturing firms in China. The results show that IT and RC resources have a positive effect on process coordination capability with both suppliers and customers. Process coordination capability with suppliers can help process coordination capability with customers to improve supply chain performance, vice verse. However, IT and RC have no interactive effect on process coordination capability.
