Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Operational Efficiency

This study employing the three-stage Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) calculates the corporate operational efficiency. Then, tobit regression and panel threshold model are respectively used to analyze CSR engagement influence a corporate and it's competitor on the corporate operational efficiency. According to the empirical results, the corporate CSR engagement has a significantly positive influence on corporate operational efficiency while the degree of competitor's CSR engagement is low, but insignificant while the degree is high. This work shows that corporations can gain from their engagement of CSR. However, the level of benefit will be affected by the degree of competitor's CSR engagement.
