Based on the compressible Navier-Stokes equations and k-ε turbulent model, a three-dimensional CFD model is built and Finite Volume Method (FVM) is used to calculate aerodynamic characteristics of high-speed trains under complex terrains in strong wind regions. Aerodynamic characteristics of high-speed train running in mountain & valley and ditch regions are researched. The primary results show that the mountain and valley will change the wind distribution so that the forces acting on the train are much stronger than that in plain. The ditch has little effects on the aerodynamic characteristics.
