This paper begins with an overview of Earned Value (EV) concepts and formulas, focuseson the interpretations of EV data by itself then in conjunction with other program data to supportmanagement decisions. The "So What?" of EV analysis will be examined and related to real worldapplications. The material will be presented in a general context with examples to illustrate key points.The value-added utility of using EV metrics along with other elements in a manager's tool box willreviewed. The content of this paper is not intended to be all inclusive. It is intended to get theaudience to think about how to interpret and use the information as part of the communication anddecision making process. The audience for this material should have a basic/intermediate level ofexperience with EV and a desire to expand their EV knowledge. The take-a-ways from this briefing willinclude a fundamental understanding of interpreting EV metrics and a basic understanding of the utilityof EV metric interpretation in conjunction with other program resources.
