In this paper, we report ENN's results in R&D and mass production of high efficiency silicon heterojunction solar cells. Using large-size industrial equipment and mass production compatible processes, ENN has developed hybrid silicon technology (HST) and achieved 23.4% heterojunction solar cell efficiency. We have successfully developed a low-cost approach to mass production, i.e., converting existing Gen8.5 (5.7m~2) thin film solar line to high efficiency HST fab by upgrading and modification of key equipment and line automation. We have achieved average cell efficiency of 21.6% in pilot production and demonstrated 317 Wp power output using standard 60-cell (156 mm) modules. ENN's unique technology route to mass production of high efficiency heterojunction solar cells has comprehensive competition advantages such as low capital cost, high production capacity, proven equipment performance & reliability, and fast ramp-up, etc. This provides a viable path for more manufacturers to penetrate into this area, quickly commercialize low-cost heterojunction technology, and further increase its competitiveness.
