We consider the problem of estimating the unobserved PV generation and demand from aggregated measurements taken at a point of common coupling, e.g., at the grid connection point of a radial distribution system. We outline the formulation of an existing algorithm that achieves the disaggregation task by using measurements of the composite power flow and the local global horizontal irradiance (GHI), and compare its performance when the estimates of the local GHI are from a local pyranometer and when from satellite, considering HelioClim-3v.5 estimations. In the comparison, we use measurements from a real-life setup that includes four houses with rooftop PV installations and battery systems for PV self-consumption. Results show that the training performed with pyranometer measurements is more reliable than using satellite estimations.
