A long-term joint project conducted by TüV Rheinland Group, Fraunhofer ISE and six Germanmodule manufacturers investigated the reliability of crystalline PV modules. Laboratory testing as proposed by IEC61215 and IEC 61730 is a good way to uncover problems related to infant mortality. Studying the long-termbehaviour of crystalline PV modules requires the adaptation of commonly employed tests in order to verify the statedservice life. In order not to overstress the modules, additional outdoor tests should be conducted as a measure forevaluating the indoor tests. A comprehensive correlation between indoor and outdoor testing has not yet beenestablished. The following compares the results obtained from indoor and outdoor weathering with respect to severityand differences in the degradation behaviour.
