The final residual stress state has a great influence on the usability of the barrel, it is necessary to study the effects analysis of cutting process on the residual stresses in autofrettaged barrel. In this paper, the superposition principle of the mathematical model is combined with the finite element method to establish the finite element model. The cutting process of the barrel was simulated and analyzed using FEA software ABAQUS. The final residual stress distribution state of the autofrettaged barrel was obtained. The effect of depth of cut and over strain percentage on the release proportion of the circumferential residual stress was discussed. It could be concluded that the release proportion of the circumferential residual stress in the inside surface of the barrel is positively correlated with depth of cut and negatively correlated with over strain percentage.
